For the 7th consecutive year, Hilcorp sponsored the annual Kenai Senior Thanksgiving Dinner on November 26 for local area seniors 60 years old or older.

The City of Kenai received a donation from Hilcorp Energy Company in the amount of $3,500 for the purchase of food and supplies for hosting the annual event.

Lori Nelson with Hilcorp: “We took a plane load down from Hilcorp’s Anchorage office and rolled in about 8am with an army ready to work. I’m going to estimate roughly 25-30 volunteers.”

This is the seventh year Hilcorp has provided funding and volunteers for this event, which is hosted by the Kenai Senior Center.

Kathy Romain with the Kenai Senior Center said this was one of their biggest events yet with roughly 270 seniors in attendance.

The Annual Peninsula Wide Senior Thanksgiving Dinner is a senior tradition that began in 1976. A Homemakers Club provided and served the first meal to the seniors. From there it grew and has been passed on through Unocal Oil, Agrium, and Marathon Oil before Hilcorp took over.
