Over the past week we’ve had Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now tomorrow marks Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday was created to unite us all in a day of generosity, and to make a positive difference in the world at the start of the busy holiday season.

Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and consumer oriented Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many start to focus on holiday and end-of-year giving.

One local organization participating in #GivingTuesday, is the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.

Donations will help with the Food Bank’s annual operating expenses and special events like last month’s turkey drive which saw close to 100 Thanksgiving dinner distributed to families with children. The turkey drive will continue until Christmas.

The holiday season is a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. This year take the next step by supporting local causes you care about.

Other local organizations accepting donations for the giving holiday; the Leeshore CenterKenai Watershed Forum, and Kenai Boys and Girls Club.. to name a few.
