The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly at their meeting on Tuesday rejected a veto aimed at reducing funding for Kenai Peninsula Tourism and Marketing Council (KPTMC). The veto item was introduced by Borough Mayor Charlie Pierce. 

The Department of Transportation categorizes every state-maintained road based on traffic volume, speed, and connections to communities and other roads within the local transportation network to determine which state roads are going to get plowed after a snowfall.

As temperatures continue to swing between high thirties and the teens, roadways on the Kenai Peninsula have the potential to ice over quickly.

For the second year in a row, the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors (KPAR) and its members donated 30 duffle bags for homeless, unaccompanied youths on the Kenai Peninsula.

As of the morning of Friday, HEA has reports of 97 members still without power, down from 3,100 without power on December 3.

In the 2018-2019 school year, 224 KPBSD students were identified as homeless, using the federally required McKinney-Vento Act definition. These students ranged from Pre-K through the 12th grade, and received support services through our Students in Transition Program and homeless liaison staff.
