The Soldotna Stars volleyball team controlled momentum and SoHi’s defense stymied Nikiski in a season-opening, three-game sweep for the Stars over the Bulldogs on Thursday at Soldotna High School.
In a non-divisional pairing, SoHi, the 2018 4A state volleyball 5th place team, downed Nikiski, the 2018 3A state champion, in three-straight 25-17, 25-13 and 25-15. SoHi head coach Luke Baumer earned his first varsity coaching victory.
The Stars will host conference opponent Kodiak on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s varsity game is scheduled for 5 p.m.; Saturday’s game is set for noon.
