Well ahead of the usual home opener on local softball diamonds, the Soldotna and Kenai softball teams opened their home schedules with contests against the Colony Knights.  SoHi and Kenai play in Division II softball in the Northern Lights Conference and Colony plays in Division I (large school) softball.

Soldotna 2 – Colony 13

In the season opener for the Soldotna girls on Saturday, SoHi manage a pair of runs in the first three innings; however Colony defeated SoHi 13-2 in a run-rule, five inning contest.  Both of SoHi’s runs came in the second inning with an RBI for Estralla Slats and Ashlyn Ash.

Kenai 2 – Colony 22

In Kenai’s first home games on Friday, the Kardinals allowed 22 runs on just 12 hits to the Colony Knights.  Kenai’s Kaylee Lauritsen pitched for the Kardinals and went 2 for 2 at the plate and drove in both Kenai runs.
