Peninsula Ice Challenge Continues Saturday At Kenai Ice: Friday Results Posted Here

The annual, season-opening Peninsula Ice Challenge hockey tournament moves to Saturday’s final contests following a split of Friday games by the Soldotna Stars and Kenai Kardinals.

Teams participating in the 2019 Peninsula Ice Challenge include: SoHi, KCHS, Delta and Dimond JV.

 

Peninsula Ice Challenge Friday Game Results

SoHi 13 – Delta 3

The Soldotna Stars scored six, first-period goals en route to a 13-3 victory over the Delta Huskies on Friday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Galen Brantley III scored four goals; Journey Miller recorded two, first-period goals; Ethan Yeager recorded two power-play goals; Wyatt Medcoff added two, third-period goals; and the Stars got single goals from Alex Montague and Dylan Walton.

In goal for the Stars, Josh Tree opened with 6 saves on nine shots and Corbin Wirz closed with 2 saves on 2 shots.

Dimond JV 2 – Kenai 1

The Kardinals and Lynx scored all of Friday’s goals in the first period with Dimond holding-off Kenai 2-1 at the Kenai Municipal Ice Rink.

Kenai’s lone goal was scored in the first period by Aiden Milburn.

 

Peninsula Ice Challenge Thursday Game Results

SoHi 5 – Dimond JV 2  

The Soldotna Stars senior Galen Brantley III opened the hockey season with a four-goal, hat trick in the Stars 5-2 victory over the Dimond JV team.

Brantley opened the scoring with a goal mid-way through the first period (5:48) and the Stars lead 1-0 at the break.  SoHi added two, second period goals; one by Wyatt Medcoff at :54 (Brantley assist), and a goal for Brantley at 9:55.  The Stars added two goals in the third period, both by Brantley–a power play goal and an empty-netter with only :21 seconds remaining.  Final Score: SoHi 5 – Dimond JV 2

KCHS 8  Delta 0  

The Kenai Kardinals displayed a balanced attack against a Delta team which has had limited, early season ice time due to warm weather; Kenai downing Delta 8-0 to open play in the Peninsula Ice Challenge.
