Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District Executive Director Tim Dillon, presenting to the Borough Assembly on Tuesday, covered a range of updates from the status of the leadership team to the effects of the 2020 Census.
EDD Executive Director Tim Dillon: “Our leadership team remains the same from last year, Todd Smith is our president from Preferred Plumbing, Bruce Richards from the hospital (CPH), Rachel O’Brian from the Department of Labor, and Tim Redder from Wells Fargo.”
One large project on the EDD’s horizon, the 2020 census, which they will take a lead on.
Dillon: “We’re in the process right now of putting together a committee that will focus on outreach, and we’re trying to make sure we get representation across the board from all of our different communities. We need to make sure people are counted and counted correctly, because it means dollars in the long run.”
An accurate 2020 census means possible additional funding and representation for the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
Dillon: ” This means a lot to the Kenai Peninsula Borough. We need to make sure that people are counted and counted correctly because it means dollars in the long run. Whether it be for some of the different social programs, some of the different loan programs, the re-districting of legislators and elected officials.”
Dillon stated that the EED is working on multiple issues including airports and communities, local employment, and emergency planning for small business. A new website is planned for release on July 1st.
