The effects of the Swan Lake Fire have claimed another pair of casualtiies.
The Kenai Kardinal vs Lathrop Malemute football game scheduled for Saturday, August 31st at Kenai Central High School has been cancelled.
A release from KCHS Athletic Director Jesse Settlemyer stated, “The football games (Kenai vs Lathrop) scheduled for Saturday have also been cancelled. These games will most likely not be rescheduled as there are no open weekends left in the football calendar.”
With the cancellation of the Kenai vs Lathrop game, week three of the football regular season is completely reshaped, primarily due to poor air quality and transportation restrictions through the Sterling to Cooper Landing corridor of the Sterling Highway all resulting from the Swan Lake Fire.

Volleyball Schedule: Kenai vs Seward
A release from KCHS Athletic Director Jesse Settlemyer stated, “The volleyball games (Kenai vs Seward 3,4,5:00pm) scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled. These games will be rescheduled with a date and time TBD.”
Volleyball Scheduled: Kodiak @ SoHi
An update on the Kodiak Bears scheduled volleyball trip to the central peninsula to play SoHi on Friday and Saturday will be provided when information is made available.
