Cook Inlet Academy’s run at the ASAA 1A State Basketball Championship ended in the consolation bracket semi-final on Friday with a 33-22 loss to the Shishmareff Northern Lights at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.
The Eagle girls lead at the half 13-12 before a 14-2 third quarter for the Northern Lights, a run that CIA could never cover. The Eagles Adara Warren scored eight points to lead CIA.
Cook Inlet finishes tournament play with a 1-2 record with a win over Newtok 45-27 on Thursday.

Nikolaevsk Girls 38 – Buckland 55
Buckland advances in the 1A state tournament with a 55-38 victory over the Nikolaevsk girls on Friday. Buckland used a 14-3 third quarter to pull-away for the win. Elizabeth Fefelov lead the Warriors with 17 points. The Warrior girls drop two-straight after an opening round victory.
Nikolaevsk Boys 44 – Savoonga 63
The Warrior boys lead Savoonga 26-21 at the half; however, Nikolaevsk allowed 42 second half points and were out scored 20-6 in the third quarter as Savoonga downed Nikolaevsk 63-44. The Warrior boys finish tournament play at 1-2.
