March Madness Alaska 2019, the state championships for Alaska high school basketball, opens three days of tournament play on March 21 with the 3A and 4A Basketball State Championships taking to the courts at the Alaska Airlines Center on the campus of UAA.
All tournament games involving SoHi, Nikiski and Kenai will be broadcast on ESPN 1140AM and streamed live on www.radiokenai.com

SoHi Girls 54 – West 50 Final
…SoHi advances to play #1 Dimond on Friday at 3:30 p.m. SoHi’s Aliann Schmidt lead the Stars with 15 points and Itu Tuisaula added 12 points and 17 rebounds.
SoHi Boys 45 -West 42 Final
…SoHi’s Jersey Truesdell scored 31 points. SoHi plays Ketchikan on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the boy’s winner’s bracket game. Ketchikan upset #1 seed East Anchorage 60-58.
Kenai Girls 34 – Mt. Edgecumbe 32
…The Kenai girls defeat Mt.Edgecumbe 34-32 lead by Brooke Satathite’ 12 points and Jaycie Calvert’s 11 points.
Kenai advances to the 3A Girls semi-final to play #1 seed Anchorage Christian School on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Nikiski Girls 58 – Valdez 45
…Nikiski, after blowing two, double-digit leads, rallied in the final four minutes for a 58-45 victory over Valdez.
The Bulldog girls advance to play Barrow in th 8 p.m. Contest on Friday.

3A State Basketball: Girls
The Nikiski Bulldog girls, runner-up in the Southcentral Conference, and the Kenai Kardinal girls, 3rd in the SCC and the only at-large selection, open play on Thursday, March 21st with first-round contests. The Bulldogs, seeded #3 on the girls bracket, face #6 Valdez in the 8 p.m. game on Thursday. The #5 Kenai girls face #4 seed Mt. Edgecumbe from Southeast in the 12:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
Anchorage Christian School, undefeated on the season and seeded #1, opens against Kotzebue; #2 Galena faces #7 Barrow in the first round.
3A State Basketball: Boys
The Anchorage Christian School boys, seeded #1, open against #8 Sitka in the tournament’s first game on Thursday morning at 8 a.m.. Teams in the 3A boys bracket include: #2 Valdez, #3 Grace, #4 Nome, #5 Eielson, #6 Barrow and #7 Monroe.
4A State Basketball: Girls
The Soldotna Star girls, runner-up in the Northern Lights Conference, earn a #4 seed into the 4A tournament and open against #5 West Anchorage, one of two at-large teams, in Thursday’s 9:30 a.m. pairing.
The Dimond Lynx girls receive the #1 seed and open against #8 Ketchikan in the bracket’s first game at 8 a.m. Other first-round pairings include: #3 Bartlett vs #6 Wasilla and #2 West Valley vs #7 Chugiak.
4A State Basketball: Boys
